Job Summary

The Food Manufacturing Technology Engineer is responsible for identifying, developing, and supporting the implementation of best-in-class food manufacturing technologies, process designs, and equipment solutions to support new factory installations, production line expansions, new product industrialization, and optimization of existing manufacturing operations across Spain and Africa.

The role serves as the technical authority for food processing technologies and equipment selection, leading the evaluation of manufacturing concepts, process flows, machinery, automation solutions, and external technology providers. Working closely with Engineering, Operations, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, and external vendors, the position ensures that manufacturing solutions are safe, efficient, scalable, sustainable, cost-effective, and aligned with business growth objectives.

The incumbent is responsible for translating product and business requirements into robust manufacturing processes, supporting capital investment decisions, and establishing technology standards across all manufacturing sites.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design manufacturing technologies to support business growth, productivity improvements, and product innovation.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and manufacturing standards for food processing operations across multiple production sites.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, automation developments, and best practices in food manufacturing.
  • Act as the technical reference for food processing technologies and industrial manufacturing solutions.
  • Support greenfield and brownfield projects through manufacturing technology selection and process design.
  • Define equipment requirements and technical specifications for new production lines and factory installations.
  • Participate in conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering phases of manufacturing projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses for new technologies and capital investments.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful implementation of approved manufacturing solutions.
  • Identify, assess, and qualify equipment suppliers and technology partners.
  • Lead technical evaluations, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and site acceptance tests (SAT).
  • Review vendor proposals and ensure alignment with operational, quality, food safety, and engineering requirements.
  • Establish long-term relationships with strategic equipment manufacturers and technology providers.
  • Support procurement teams during supplier negotiations through technical expertise.
  • Ensure all process designs and technology solutions comply with food safety, quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Work closely with Operations and Engineering teams to support manufacturing performance improvement initiatives.
  • Support regional manufacturing projects across Spain and African operations through regular travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agroindustrial Engineering, Food Engineering, or another relevant Engineering discipline, complemented by a Master's degree in Food Technology.
  • 7+ years of experience in food manufacturing, food process engineering, or manufacturing technology.
  • Proven experience in multinational food manufacturing environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in food technology.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Expertise in food safety, hygienic design, and food manufacturing principles.
  • Full professional proficiency in English is required. Spanish is preferred. French is highly valued.
