Job description

GBfoods Africa offer culinary solutions operating in over 24 countries with a regional office in Accra - Ghana.

Our Purpose “Celebrating local flavours” is to empower and take care of each of the local communities we belong to and to bring out their authentic flavours. Some of our local brands have been in consumers' kitchens for over a century and have positioned themselves as authentically loved brands, as well as deeply rooted parts of the local culture.

 

Role:

Reporting to the Senior Agronomist,

The Agronomist is responsible for collaborating closely with the Senior Agronomist to provide strategic, intentional, and impactful agronomic support to farmers participating in our block farming project. The role focuses on improving year-on-year crop yields through effective farm management practices, technical guidance, and farmer capacity building, ultimately enhancing farmers’ income levels and increasing participation and sustainability within the block farming initiative.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in crop production, soil control, and soil management.
  • Identify ways to maximize crop production from a given acreage of soil.
  • Perform experiments to determine and then maximize plant nutrients and soil health.
  • Providing valuable insights that lead to solutions that drive higher crop yields.
  • Carries out laboratory tests of soil, seed, and crop samples.
  • Prepares analysis and data presentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture; Master’s degree in Agriculture (specializing in soil science) a plus.
  • Minimum three (3) years of working experince as an Agromonist.
  • Have extensive knowledge of soil and crop principles.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Outstanding research and analytical skills
  • Local community engagement skills.
  • Ability to relate with local farmers.
  • Effective Communication, with fluency in Wolof language.
  • Proactive, result-driven and high sense of ownership.
  • Analytical capability and critical thinking.
