Role:

Reporting to the Infrustructure & Communications Manager, Europe

The IT Infrastructure& Communications Manager will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s IT infrastructure, communication systems, and related services to ensure high availability, security, and performance. This role involves expertise in managing global IT infrastructure, data centers, networks, unified communications, and vendors while defining KPIs, driving improvements, and aligning IT services with business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the African IT Operations & Services local team, both internal and external in all BUs.
  • Manage and oversee IT Infrastructure requests and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and optimal customer satisfaction related to infrastructure in Africa such as servers, network devices, Wi-Fi and firewall, etc.
  • Ensure local support to our factories in the region while engaging with other IT local teams in Business Applications and Data & Analytics.
  • Capture demand related to Infrastructure& Telco, Workvivo and service from the local leaders.
  • Ensure high standards of IT service delivery, meeting or exceeding SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • Provide first-line support and coordinate with second and third-line support teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Lead and participate in IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate and manage infrastructure-related initiatives, such as network upgrades, data center migrations, server deployments, and cloud transitions.
  • Maintain and update detailed project documentation including project plans, timelines, status reports, and technical requirements to operations manager.
  • Support project-related change control, asset management, and configuration documentation. Assist in post-project reviews, capturing lessons learned and improvement opportunities.

Requirements

Behavorial & Technical Competencies

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Tnformation Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience in IT Infrastructure management or a similar role.
  • Excellent understanding of infrastructure components such as servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud services, End Customer support leading.
  • FMCG experience an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure: switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs.
  • Experience with server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and cloud migration activities.
  • Understanding of storage systems (SAN, NAS, RAID) and backup strategies.
  • Familiar in JIRA support tool and Change Management Process.
  • Awareness of data center standards, rack layouts, power and cooling considerations.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL processes, especially in change and incident management.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while ensuring system reliability and service continuity.
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently, make decisions, and lead initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality IT services with a focus on user experience, business needs, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Ability to manage priorities, delegate tasks, and develop the team, putting proper plans in place.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of the business.
