Role:

Reporting to the General Manager, Nigeria BU,

The Strategy Director will be responsible for driving business growth and success by leading strategy development, execution, and evaluation. The role holder will work with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, focusing on strategic planning, data-driven decisions, sustainability, performance reporting, and collaboration. The role has a dotted line of reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Lead the development of business unit strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and long-term goals.
  • Facilitate the strategic planning process, working with senior level management to define priorities and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the implementation of strategic initiatives, tracking milestones, risks, and performance outcomes.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Provide support to Regional Strategy Projects
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement Sustainability programs, aligned with the Africa Sustainability Manager.

Performance Review & Reporting

  • Design and manage performance review mechanisms to track the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and present executive-level reports and insights on key business metrics.
  • Conduct financial modelling and impact assessments to measure ROI of strategic projects.
  • Support leadership in identifying areas for operational improvement and business growth.

Executive Support & Strategic Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor and right-hand person to the General Manager, providing insights, recommendations, and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business operations and implement best practices.

Requirements

Behavorial & Technical Competencies

  • Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, finance, or a related field.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in executive leadership, consulting, strategy, project management or business operations.
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, and performance tracking.
  • Skilled in market analysis, competitor research, and identifying trends.
  • Strong financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management.
  • Knowledge of change management to drive successful strategy adoption.
  • Familiar with digital transformation and using technology to boost business performance.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Critical thinking and have a high sense of curiosity.
  • A good team player and proactive.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
