About the Agonomist role

The Agromomist role, works and collaborate with the Projects Lead to provide very deep, intentional and impactful support to farmers in GBHub’s block farm project, leading to improved year-on-year yield for farmers, ultimately enhancing their income levels and growing interest in the block farming project in Kebbi State, Nigeria. 

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Project Lead of GBHub Africa, you will 

  • Provide support in crop production, soil control, and soil management.
  • Identify ways to maximize crop production from a given acreage of soil.
  • Perform experiments to determine and then maximize plant nutrients and soil health.
  • Providing valuable insights leading to solutions that drive higher crop yields.
  • Carry out laboratory tests of soil, seed, and crop samples
  • Prepare analysis and data presentation.

Requirements

Technical Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field with a Master’s degree in Agriculture (specializing in soil science) a plus.
  • Minimum two (2) years of agronomy work experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of soil and crop principles.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Outstanding research and data analysis skills.
